White vinegar to the rescue!
I never knew about all the amazing uses for white vinegar and thought I would share a few of my favourites with you. After having my daughter two years ago I really wanted to start using more natural cleaning products. I did a bit of googling and discovered how one simple product could replace so many different cleaners in my cabinet.
These are some of my favourite ways to use white vinegar:
Descale The Kettle
We have very hard water in our area and after using the kettle a lot you notice bits of limescale floating around in the water. That is not pleasant at all! So to combat this I add equal parts of white vinegar and water, then boil. I let it sit in the kettle for about 15 min. then rinse and repeat if needed. It comes out looking all shiny and new. I spray some white vinegar on the outside of the kettle too which shines it all up!
Dishwaher Rinse Aid
I have tried every rinse aid avaialbe on the market and too be honest I am not that impressed with any of them. I find them overpriced so one day I thought instead of buying rinse aid why not try white vinegar. I did a little reading up on it and saw that putting rinse aid in the compartment can damage the dishwaher if it has rubber components. Mine does not but if yours does you can simply put a small cup on the top rack of your dishwasher with vinegar in it.
Cleaning The Fridge
I do not know about you but the inside of my fridge gets dirty fast. I try once a week to take everything out and give it a good clean (does not always happen but hey, I try!) I use a solution of half water half vinegar in a spray bottle and just spray it down and scrub/wipe it clean. It is also great at getting rid of those mysterious odours and leaving your fridge smelling fresh!
Instead of spending lots of money on window cleaners try mixing 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 1 pint of water to a spray bottle. Spray on your windows and clean off with newspaper or a microfibre cloth. You can also add some essential oil if the smell bothers you.
Liquid Fabric Softner Replacement
I recently replaced my liquid fabric softner with white vinegar and I have to say I am impressed. I add about 1/2 of a cup to the fabric softner dispenser. Do not worry it will not leave your clothes smelling of a chip shop! They come out just as soft and lovely as if you used regular softner. If your prefer a more flowery smell you can also add a few drops of essential oil in with the bottle of vinegar that you are using.
These were just some of my favourite uses for white vinegar, I seem to use it for just about everything. There are so many great uses it is unbelievable! So tell me do you use white vinegar around the house? I could always use more tips. Have a great day!
